Some of you say you were hungry for God. But your story doesn’t look like the stories of the truly hungry.
You say, “I was really looking for God.” But when the fragrance of God was near, did you run to it?
The Bible says His presence is like a sweet fragrance. When someone who carries it enters a space, those who are hungry will notice.
I’m not talking about sitting around for months, watching, suspecting, calculating. That’s not hunger. When you’re hungry for food and you smell something cooking, your nose flares, and your feet follow. You may try to pretend, but your stomach won’t let you.
Some of you stayed around places where God was clearly moving—but you didn’t act. You prioritized comfort. And God doesn’t respond to comfort. He responds to desire. If you were truly looking for God, you would have held on like the seven women in Isaiah, who grabbed the hem of one man and said, “I want to follow you. I want your God.”
So ask yourself honestly: were you really hungry?
