Many have been taught that talking fast or praying endlessly in tongues is a sign of spiritual power. But Ecclesiastes 5 says, “When you come before God, let your words be few.” And Matthew 6 warns, “Do not think you will be heard because you said many words.”
1 Corinthians 14:15 says, “I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also. I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.” But some never pray with their understanding. They only pray in tongues.
You must pray with your understanding. You must be a human being before your God, and then He will be a God to you. When you speak reasonably, He responds reasonably. When you act like a robot with your heart far away, He turns away.
