I always pity Christians in church meetings when they are singing and someone stands there and refuses to sing. They do not realize what is happening. Every time you open your mouth and say something in accordance with God’s word, you are declaring something.
You sang the song at eleven, twelve, thirteen years old. How many times did you repeat it? Incense is rising. It is being collected, over and over. Your sacrifices are being collected repeatedly.
At the same time, another person may be singing, “I be rascal guy o, I be rascal guy.” People dance, they sing, and the words are incantated. They are collected, stored, and preserved for the right moment. When the time comes, lawfulness is fulfilled, lawful captives are accounted for. The evidence is clear—these are his words, these are her words, and they have lasting effects.
“Baby, you left me, you left me; I will never forget the first love of my life.” And then you expect a happy marriage? It is not that simple. How many times did you sing that song? How often did you write it down, play it on repeat, or memorize every word? You programmed yourself to believe that the first person you gave your heart to would remain the one. You expect that memory to disappear just because you changed schools? That is not how it works.
That is why, when that “first love” shows up decades later—in another city, after you have three children—wrong choices happen. You may commit adultery without understanding why. Do not ask too many questions; you are a lawful captive to your own words. Ignorance does not excuse you.
We are at war, and the battle is constant. I tell people all the time, “You are in a battlefield,” and it is daily. Most of the time, you do not even know it.
