Then I heard:
“The message is both for you and for them. On your journey, you must learn how to use the scroll, the weapon—that is, God’s word, God’s message. The message is first for you, then for others.
Then you too can say, ‘That which we have touched, we have seen, we have handled.'”
I remembered John the Apostle’s letter to the church, where he said:
“The message we bring is that which we have handled.” (1 John 1:1-2)
The voice continued:
“When you practice with the message, it is no longer a piece of information for you to deliver, but an extension of your person. Then you will understand the value of what you are passing.”
After this, I saw that the young man eventually arrived at the village—the place where he was supposed to deliver the message. The people had already gathered there and were waiting for him, with their chief—an elderly man—standing in front of them.
I observed the sacredness with which he handled the scroll, which I realized had also changed.
The scroll had become longer, and it now had a glow on it. He held it with such reverence and awe that he seemed almost afraid that the people would not understand the value of what they were receiving.
This came about because throughout his journey, he saw how the scroll had been transformed. The message had saved him in different ways. This shows that as we practice and obey God’s word, we learn the value. When we see the result of obedience to God’s word, our respect, trembling, and fear for the word of God increases.
He passed it on with fear, as though he were saying, “Oh, these people do not understand.”
I noticed that as soon as the scroll left his hand and was given to the chief of the community or village, it changed back to the ordinary scroll that was given to the man initially at Heaven’s Gate.
It had changed—it was no longer bright; it was no longer lengthy.
It became plain.
As I wondered why it changed back, I heard:
“The increase and the glory will come as they too learn the value on their own journey.”
It seemed more or less like: you can pass on the message; you can share the word of God with people, but you cannot pass on the fear and the understanding that you have come to have from your own personal journey and experience of obedience.
People will have to learn their own fear.
They will have to learn the glory and the value of God’s word as they obey, the way you have obeyed.
That was the interpretation I got there.
I saw that the chief divided the scroll among the villagers, but the scroll never finished. As he took the scroll and gave it to one person, it was like the scroll was immediately replaced.
I also saw that each person he gave it to began a journey of their own—the same way the young man had started his own journey. That was how the cycle was going to be.
It was the case of:
each person working out their own salvation. (Philippians 2:12)
