Being told about discipleship does not make you a disciple. Learning about discipleship does not make you a disciple. Knowing the definition does not make you one. A disciple is a learner. An apprentice. Someone who is actively learning and practicing the ways of the master.
Many believers are believers only. They believe and are saved, but that does not mean they love God. Believing does not automatically equal loving. Love begins where learning and obedience begin.
A disciple is not someone who attended a course and received information. That is like reading university textbooks and calling yourself a graduate. It does not work that way. Discipleship requires practice, obedience, and consistency.
If you say you are learning the ways of God, the question is simple: are you obeying what you are learning? Are you practicing it? Are you following instructions even when they cost you comfort?
An apprentice welder must weld. An apprentice carpenter must build. A disciple must obey. If you only talk, you are not a disciple. You are one in name only.
You must know the difference between what you desire to become and what you have become. Do not deceive yourself. God cannot be deceived.
