As we sang “Send Rain”, I saw someone whose hair was completely scraped from their head, just like when someone has a skin cut. On the person’s forehead, all the way back to the middle part of the top of their head—their cranium—the skin there was quite transparent. I could see flies crawling underneath their skin.
And I heard:
“Let down your hair. Will you rather keep your hair or be free?”
I knew at once that the hair there was not speaking of natural hair, but of self-glory. And God was saying:
“Would you rather retain your self-glory or be free of the lies that are all over your head, your mind?”
As I type this right now, what is coming to my mind is what happened with one of our brothers—when he was required to stand before the congregation of his brethren, strip himself of whatever glory he had, embrace the embarrassment, and confess his faults. He was actually scraping himself of self-glory so that he could be free of the lies of the enemy.
When I heard the question about choosing to retain the hair or have freedom, I physically responded, saying:
“Lord, I want to be free.”
Then the voice responded, shouting:
“Then let down your hair!”
Afterwards, I saw someone with hair so long—in public, the person’s hair was long, black, and greatly admired. The person was smiling, and people were saying:
“Oh my God, look at your hair, so long.”
But then I saw this person in private; suffering. The hair was itchy and causing discomfort.
The person was actually itching badly, as in a serious lice attack. I could see that under the person’s head, there were things like tiny worms. Then a blade was brought near the person to scrape off the hair. But, the person shuddered and shouted:
“Not the blade! I do not want the blade!”
The blade seemed like one of those measures God puts in place to rid us of our self-glory and pride so that we can be freed from lies. And many times, we would rather retain our self-glory and be admired in public, than let go of it and be freed from the lies and the things the enemy uses to keep us bound and in discomfort.
