Some people keep speaking about poverty as the enemy but refuse to talk about the thing feeding it. Laziness.
The Bible talks about the field of the lazy man. Everything is broken down. Nothing is maintained. Nothing is growing. Yet the lazy person still has explanations for everything.
Meanwhile scripture says: “Work with your own hands doing something useful” (Ephesians 4:28).
Some people are ashamed of small beginnings. They think certain kinds of labour are beneath them. But they forget Jesus worked with His hands. Paul worked with his hands too.
Paul said: “These hands have supplied my needs and the needs of those with me” (Acts 20:34).
‘These hands’, not somebody else’s hands. Not manipulation. Not exploitation.
Some people want office life immediately. You want comfort immediately. You want status immediately. People want harvest without process. But many people who overcame hardship started with uncomfortable work.
God is not against you having enough. But the obsession with becoming extremely rich has destroyed many people spiritually. James 5 warns rich people who hoard wealth in the last days.
Why? Because money is not meant to be stored selfishly while people suffer around you.
The purpose of abundance is generosity. That is why Ephesians says: “Work… so that you may have something to share with those in need.”
The Christian life is not built around greed. It is built around labor, generosity, humility, and responsibility.
