Many Christians think the purpose of money is personal enjoyment. That is not what scripture teaches.
The Bible says: “Work with your own hands… that you may have something to share with those in need.” (Ephesians 4:28).
Money is for supporting people. Money is for helping the needy. Money is for generosity. Money is for relieving suffering.
The more you have, the more people you should be able to help.
But modern Christianity has twisted this completely. People now gather around rich men and keep giving gifts upward to people who already have abundance while the needy are ignored.
Yet Proverbs 22:16 says:
“He that gives to the rich shall surely come to poverty.”
Most people have never seen that verse before because they were trained never to question these systems.
Scripture says two groups are headed toward poverty: The person who oppresses the poor to increase wealth and the person who keeps giving to the rich.
Think carefully about that.
God did not say support the rich preacher so you can become rich too. Jesus said when you make a feast, invite the poor, crippled, blind, and lame. Then He said something shocking: “You will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous” (Luke 13:13-14).
Not now. Not instant returns. Not magical multiplication alerts tomorrow morning.
Jesus Himself told you when repayment comes. But because many people do not read scripture carefully, somebody stands up and says: “Sow now and reap immediately.”
And people believe it because they already desire quick gain.
The Lord Jesus said the blessing connected to generosity reaches its fullness at the resurrection of the righteous. That is future. That is kingdom language. That is eternal reward language.
Can God help you now? Yes. Can He provide for you now? Yes. Can your condition improve now? Yes.
But anybody teaching that giving is a guaranteed financial investment scheme has departed from the teaching of Christ.
Giving is about love. Giving is about relieving need. Giving is about pleasing God. Giving is about generosity.
The poor are supposed to benefit from your abundance, not rich men becoming richer through manipulation.
