About the booklet
Honour is one of those words everyone nods at. We sing about honouring God, we recite the commandment about our parents, and then we go home and speak to our mothers however we feel like speaking.
This booklet takes the subject apart slowly. It asks whether honour is culture or character. It asks what you actually owe a parent, a pastor, an old woman on your street, a widow in your church, and a president you did not vote for. And it keeps asking until the answers stop being comfortable.
The chapters began as Thinking Thursday editions of Red Chair Truth with Ita Udoh — a series built around the uncomfortable questions preachers tend to walk past. They have been gathered here, with the testimonies of people who obeyed and watched what happened next.
The question the book ends on
Think about your everyday environment — school, workplace, church, home. Who are the people in authority there who carry small responsibilities?

Every chapter carries testimonies from people who acted on what they read.
“Obedience is the strategy.”
A law graduate decided, before she ever reported to camp, that her first National Service allowance belonged to God. She gave the whole of it — with a Call to Bar ceremony and all its expenses waiting for her.
That same month, money came in from different sources totalling roughly double what she had given away. She covered every cost without stress. Later, asked to give away a full month's allowance again, she found the second time harder — and watched God provide through it anyway.
