“Submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” – James 4:7
Simple instructions—especially important when you’ve been compromised by worldliness. James says, “You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God?” Many have become enemies of God without realizing it—by forming alliances with the world.
God stands against those who love the world. Why? Because the world is packed with values that are hostile to Him:
– the lust of the flesh,
– the lust of the eyes,
– and the pride of life.
These aren’t from the Commander—they’re part of the enemy’s doctrine.
Why would you befriend what’s actively fighting against God?
He didn’t say “friendship with Satan.” Most wouldn’t go that far. But they align with his system—lust and pride—without a second thought.
You see it when people chase status and image: saving up for an outfit or buying a car just to gain recognition. Pride in lifestyle. Drawing attention. Being admired.
These things are God’s enemies. If you cling to them, you’re siding with the opposition.
The way out?
Submit to God.
Resist the devil.
The devil doesn’t march in openly. He stays camouflaged in worldly things. He knows better than to attack head-on. But he issues commands through the appeal of pride and pleasure.
And if you are a soldier in God’s army—how can you be fraternizing with the enemy?
