After you’ve come to Jesus as the Way, you must learn to continue in His Word. In John 8:31–32, He said, “If you continue in My word, you are truly My disciples, and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
You didn’t know the truth the moment you got saved. You only knew the Way. Truth comes by continuing — by staying, abiding, obeying, and learning. As you continue, you begin to see the truth about anger, about lies, about holiness, about gifts, about family, about everything. He begins to show you reality from His perspective.
That’s how He teaches you. The Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Truth because He leads you into all truth. It’s a journey. Some people don’t continue — that’s why they never grow.
If you learn to continue in the Word, you’ll stand firm anywhere — even if you were thrown into a desert without network, without church, without anyone. The Word itself will sustain you. That’s what kept me from turning away from God even as a young believer. From the beginning, I was taught to keep reading, studying, and meditating on the Word.
