If the sword of the Spirit is the Word of God, then anything that takes away the law of God is the enemy.
During the Dark Ages, the institutional Roman Church of the time took away Bibles from the people by refusing to allow them in common languages. They expected you to simply hear what the priest said and believe it. In that way, the sword was taken away once.
But in the last 400 years and more, the law — the Word of God — has been restored.
Now, again, that Philistine spirit is taking away the Word. How? By making sure that even though you have a Bible, you don’t truly believe what’s in it. You pick and choose what you want.
So, while you may have a hard copy, you don’t really possess it — because you don’t believe it.
You can look right at it and still say, “No, this is not what it means,” even when the evidence is laid out in the mouth of multiple witnesses.
Moses says it. Isaiah repeats it. The Lord Jesus reiterates it. Peter confirms it.
Yet someone can still look at all that and say, “It doesn’t apply” — because the swords have been taken away again.
And only a few are left with a way to fight the lies.
