You must not only win; you must stay winning. It’s possible to rise today and fall tomorrow if you don’t keep your foot on the enemy’s neck. Paul cried, “O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?” Then he answered, “I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” That’s where victory lies — in Christ Jesus.
There’s always a war between the mind that serves God and the flesh that serves sin. You can’t make peace between them. One must rule. And you must decide which one. If you walk according to the Spirit, the law of the Spirit of life will keep you free. But if you give in to the flesh, the law of sin will take you captive again.
The goal is not perfection without struggle, but victory in spite of it. The Christian life is a fight. You fight daily. You rise when you fall. You keep your eyes on the path of the Spirit. And when Jesus returns, may He find you standing — not with the enemy’s foot on your neck, but with yours on his.
