Revelation 21 tells you about the holy city, the New Jerusalem, coming down from heaven prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. That bride is the church. She has a husband. His name is Jesus. And because of who He is, it has taken thousands of years to prepare His bride.
The church is where the bride is selected, prepared, equipped, joined together piece by piece. Every part of her garment is formed over time. You meet her all through scripture. In Matthew 25 as the wise virgins. In Revelation as the bride. In Galatians as the mother. It is the same woman.
But she has a counterpart. Her alternative. Mystery Babylon.
Mystery Babylon is not a mother. She is a harlot. Revelation 17 tells you exactly what she produces: abominations. She has daughters. Not children of nurture, but daughters like herself. She is dressed in purple and scarlet. She glitters with gold and precious stones. She looks impressive, but what she carries is filth.
Everybody is following a mother. One gives life. One produces corruption. One nurtures children. One sells them.
Pity the person who despises the true church. Pity the person who jokes with her. Pity the person who exploits her. Pity the person who wounds her. When her husband comes, things will not be well.
