The God Factor and the Battle for Samaria

1st Kings 20 is a manual for war. Samaria, the capital of the ten tribes, was compromised. Led by Ahab, husband of Jezebel, it represents a compromised church. Idolatry. Corruption. Wrong alliances.

Benhadad, king of Aram, came with thirty-two kings, horses, and chariots; an overwhelming force. His demand was total surrender: gold, silver, wives, children. Ahab agreed. But when Benhadad demanded more, the people resisted. Then God stepped in.

“I will give this great army into your hand today, and you will know that I am the Lord.” – 1 Kings 20:13

This is the God factor, the wild card. The single greatest advantage a person can have is God getting involved on your side. It is also the worst possible situation if God is against you.

God intervened not because Ahab was righteous, but because He wanted to prove something: that He is the true God. There are moments when God steps into compromised situations to demonstrate His supremacy. This does not excuse sin.

Winning with God means recognizing when God enters the battle. It means understanding that His involvement changes everything. And it means making sure you are never on the opposite side of where God has chosen to stand.
