Matthew 13 explains the parable of the sower: “When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart.” Understanding is what makes the difference.
And the price for understanding is time. That is why some of you had extra lessons in school. The difference between not understanding and understanding is the time you give. If you only spend five or ten minutes in Bible study, you cannot expect the fruit of the one who spends an hour in prayer and an hour in Bible study.
God may give you a gift, but you must work on it. The more time you give, the deeper the roots of understanding go. When the word has taken root, the devil cannot snatch it away.
