The Road That Does Not Lead to the Kingdom

Many have believed the lie that once you are “in Jesus,” you can live anyhow and still inherit the kingdom of God. But Scripture does not support that. Galatians 5 makes it clear: those who practice the works of the flesh will not inherit the kingdom. The works of the flesh are obvious — immorality, impurity, idolatry, anger, selfishness, envy, drunkenness, and more. These things are not small matters. They mark the path that does not lead to life.

The road that leads to the kingdom of God is narrow and marked by the fruit of the Spirit. Those on this road bear love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are the results of being led by the Spirit habitually. It’s not a random feeling or an occasional inspiration; it’s a daily walk that shows in your behavior.

There’s a law against the works of the flesh — they bring judgment. But there is no law against the fruit of the Spirit. If you live under the Spirit’s rule, the law will not condemn you. If you live by the flesh, it will. That’s what Scripture means when it says we are not under the law — it’s for those led by the Spirit, not those doing what they please.
