The Bible calls lust a traveler. It comes to visit. It doesn’t always live with you — unless you let it.
That’s what happened to David. He saw Bathsheba and instead of going to one of his own wives, he took someone else’s. God called it lust visiting like a traveler. If David had gone to his wife, the traveler would have left.
That’s how it works. The traveler comes. It knocks. Some people resist. Some open the door and even give it a room. Some make it a permanent guest.
If you’re not married, then go to church. Pray. Watch something edifying. Visit someone godly. Do something. Don’t sit around and entertain the traveler.
Build a fence. Protect your mind. Don’t read or listen to things that stir up desire. Songs, stories, movies — anything that starts awakening feelings you’re not meant to be acting on.
Songs of Solomon says, “Do not awaken love before it’s time.” If you do, you’ll face battles you weren’t ready for. And some people lose.
Guard your gates. Block the traveler at the door. Don’t play with lust. It’s a real enemy. Treat it like one.
