Scripture does not say you wrestle demons. Demons are foot soldiers. It goes straight to their bosses. As Ephesians 6:12 reminds us: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” These are the ones you fight. With demons, you cast them out. With their bosses, you wrestle.
Wrestling is not a quick encounter. It is not a slap. It is a bloody sport. It continues until someone gives up. If something in your life has lasted four years, that is not an encounter—that is wrestling. If a mind battle has gone on for months, that is wrestling.
They use siege. They use threats. They use isolation. They use mind attacks that tell you, “You are not worthy. Who told you you can do this? Pack your bags and leave.” Some people have lived in that space for years.
At the root of defeat is unbelief. Faith is a shield. It stops arrows before they even hit you. The three Hebrew men said, “Our God is able to save us. But even if He does not, we will not bow.” That resoluteness puts up a wall. Faith in God’s goodness is like entering a stronghold that cannot be broken from outside. Only you can open it from within.
Job had that shield. He said difficult things, but at his core he remained unassailable: “Even if He slays me, yet will I trust Him.” He held it till the end. And when God finished speaking, He sent Job to pray for his friends. The man covered in sores was still functional in the spirit. That is a soldier who wins with God.
