Jesus said in John 8:34, “Everyone who sins is a slave to sin.” There is only one thing you can be a slave to. Sin. When He told the Jews they would be free, they argued. They said they were not slaves. But Jesus was telling them plainly: you belong to Jerusalem below.
Then He said something more dangerous in verse 44: “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires.” Fathers are known by desires. Whoever’s desires you carry out is your father. Continuity reveals origin.
The word “son” in Hebrew is ‘ben.’ A son is one who builds his father’s house. Benjamin means “son of the right hand.” Jesus is the Son because He builds His Father’s house. Anyone who loves Him wants to do the same.
Many servants of God derail because they start building their own ideas instead of the Father’s plan. You cannot build the Father’s house with your own blueprint.
David gave Solomon the plans for the temple. Solomon built exactly what his father designed. Psalm 72 is not about Solomon alone. It is about Jesus. No man rules from sea to sea. No man delivers all the needy. This is Christ. This is the Husband of the church. A church married to this Husband is secure forever.
