How is it that some people seem to be constantly fighting spiritual battles but never winning? Always binding, always pulling down, always shouting—but the enemy is still standing. There’s always another “strongman,” always another “witch” or “enemy” to confront.
That should tell you something. They’re not using the proper weapons.
The Bible says our weapons are not carnal—but they are mighty through God, to the pulling down of strongholds (not principalities). What’s a stronghold? A stronghold is a well-built, reinforced wall—secure, established lies, mindsets, and patterns that hold people in bondage. That’s what we’re to pull down.
We are not on the defensive. We’re on the attack. When Jesus said the gates of hell won’t prevail, He was not talking about the gates chasing you. Gates don’t move. You’re the one meant to move. You go up to the gate and push it down. It won’t win. We overcome.
But most people are out here swinging at the air, pulling down ruling spirits while their own lives are in disarray. One sin and the devil finds a legal right. Then boom—accidents, sorrow, disaster, more sin. And you’re surprised. You attacked hell’s territory without wearing righteousness.
It’s not about shouting warfare chants. It’s about walking in obedience and love. Love God. Love your neighbor. Be righteous. That’s the real armor. Then you’ll fight the battles God sends you to fight, and you’ll win.
