We invite you to participate in learning, even if you don’t understand it yet. At least learn what it means to be a soldier, a disciple in the kingdom of God.
It’s semi-volunteer-based. Why do I say “semi”? Because the Lord Jesus didn’t force it. He didn’t say, “You must be my disciple.” No. He said, “If anyone will be my disciple…”
The first thing is: Take up your instrument of death—your cross—and follow Him.
‘Follow me’ means you look at what He did, how He did it, and where He did it. You study His methods, His modus operandi, then copy it.
Paul said, “Imitate me, as I imitate Christ.” (1 Corinthians 11)
Because we don’t see the Lord Jesus physically, there are those who imitate Him. So the best and closest thing you can have to imitating Christ, apart from scripture, is to look for those who imitate Him the most.
How will you know they’re imitating Him the most? By looking at the scriptures and seeing how He operated. Then look for those who practice that the most.
It’s easier to copy what you see than what you hear about.
You hang around them, you sit in their meetings, you watch, you learn, and you pay attention to what they say.
In the process, you will find yourself with a cross, and you’ll be following Christ.
