THE DEVIL WINS THROUGH ACCUSATION
The devil gains ground through accusation when there is a basis for his claims. One way to overcome him is to make those accusations unsuccessful by repenting and turning away from wrongdoing.
Many Christians respond to every difficulty by rebuking the devil without examining their own conduct. They fail to consider whether they have acted outside the boundaries God established for them or whether their actions have amounted to disobedience. Yet, spiritual warfare requires more than repeated prayers against the enemy; it also requires an understanding of one’s own responsibility before God.
When you discover that you have acted wrongly, the appropriate response is repentance. Ask God for forgiveness and turn away from the conduct that gave the enemy grounds for accusation.
The answer to every spiritual difficulty is not necessarily to intensify one’s warfare. Sometimes, the necessary response is to recognize an error, repent and correct one’s course. Rather than continually resisting the enemy while ignoring the grounds for accusation, Christians must learn to walk in obedience to God.
Repentance and knowledge are essential to a life of obedience. Ignorance can expose a person to avoidable difficulties, but understanding helps one recognise where one has gone wrong and make the necessary corrections.
