The Cost of Familiarity

When leaders begin to lose reverence for the authority above them, the consequences can be severe.
Over time, they stop praying seriously and become casual about their responsibilities.
The anointing—once a powerful force—begins to feel routine.
They no longer see the need to spend time in prayer because, like Samson, they think,
“I will rise and shake myself as at other times,”
not realizing that the Spirit of God has left them.

This gradual loss of reverence isn’t limited to human leaders.
It can happen in our relationship with God too.
When we see God act with patience, gentleness, and forgiveness,
we begin to think our actions don’t matter.
We may even develop the mindset:
“He needs me; what would He do without me?”
But that attitude undermines our calling.

It’s easy to become too casual when we are used to His grace and mercy.
We forget that He is not obligated to use us
He does so because of His mercy, not our worth.

We must never forget the importance of reverence and discipline.
Whether dealing with human authorities or the Divine,
familiarity should not lead to complacency.
We are soldiers in a kingdom that demands readiness and respect.
Don’t lose sight of the gravity of your calling.
