Prepare for War

One major myth is: “Marriage is happily ever after.” It’s not. That’s a fairy tale. Marriage isn’t some automatic bliss. It’s work. It’s a demand. It’s a reality.

Fairy tales end with “and they lived happily ever after.” That line belongs in storybooks for children. By the time you’re in your late teens, reality should have moved in and taken a seat in your house.

If marriage ever becomes “happily ever after,” it’ll be after you’ve walked through the valley of the shadow of death — figuratively and sometimes literally.

But here’s the real issue: you prepared for Common Entrance, WAEC, JAMB — you studied, hired lesson teachers, lost sleep, spent money. But for marriage? Nothing. Just bought a dress or a tux and said “God will help us.” That’s not preparation.

You say you value marriage? Prove it. What did you do to prepare? You think prayer is enough? It’s not. God said it’s His words that give life. Do you know what the Bible says about being a husband or a wife?

Many guys just see a sister and think “cute.” That’s instinct. It’s how God wired us — to protect what looks fragile. But that same cuteness can blind you to the reality. That girl? She’s not just “cute.” She’s a whole human being with needs, moods, strengths, and weaknesses.

Marriage is not a joke. It’s not about a red suit on your wedding day. You prepare for it — or you fail in it.
