What’s in your hand — a plowshare or a sword?
The Philistines took away every blacksmith so the Israelites had no weapons. Instead, all they had were farming tools: plowshares, mattocks, axes, sickles. Why? Because the enemy only allows you to have what produces for him.
When the raiders come, they also steal your harvest. They let you farm — and then they raid the produce. That’s why they won’t take away your farming tools. They let you have whatever builds a life they can tax.
So many of God’s children boast in being productive — but were you made only to farm?
You were made for war.
It’s not that farming is bad. You were meant to be both a farmer and a soldier. You were meant to beat your plowshares into swords. You were supposed to raise spears from your tools. That’s what God commands in this time.
But instead, you’ve let the Philistines define what you’re allowed to be. You’re proud of being just a “productive” person when you were called to be a warrior.
