One of the seven ministries in Romans 12 is giving. God gives some people the grace and ability to give — to be channels through which resources flow. They are prompted by the Spirit to give, and provision passes through their hands.
Some of these people may even become extremely wealthy, not for their own comfort but to serve. The tragedy is that many fail to use this gift properly. God measures giving not by amount, but by proportion and obedience. Someone who gives five hundred thousand out of fifty million has given only one percent. Another who gives fifty thousand from two hundred thousand has given far more in God’s eyes.
The ministry of giving is not a small thing. When exercised faithfully, it sustains the body. When neglected, it leaves many lacking. There are Christians who were blessed to fund God’s work, but they’ve run away with what belongs to the church, hiding behind worldly financial wisdom. The Lord will not commend that. He expects every gift — including the ability to give — to be used for His purpose.
