The Bible calls the Word of God the sword of the Spirit. A sword has a purpose. It is not for cutting vegetables. It is for warfare. God does not tell you that His Word is a sword and then send you to the kitchen. The sword exists for battle.
The problem is that many people do not like war. They want peace at all times. They want no agitation and no challenge. But the book of Ecclesiastes is clear: there is a time for everything. There is a time for peace, and there is a time for war. The issue is not whether you love peace. The issue is whether you know what time it is.
Many of us have been guilty of looking for peace when it was time for war. If you do not understand the season you are in, you will respond wrongly. You will be passive when you should be aggressive. You will relax when you should be fighting.
Being a peace lover without discernment produces laziness. God wants His people to know the times and the seasons. If it is time for war, you must know it is time for war. Otherwise, you will keep asking for peace in a season where God is calling you to contend.
