Prayer, Perseverance and Possession

The story of the widow in Luke 18 shows something important. She kept coming to the judge again and again.

Her request was simple: “Give me justice.” That is prayer. A clear request.

But what produced the result was perseverance. She continued until the judge was weary. So in that situation, what she deployed was not just prayer, but prayer plus perseverance.

However, not every situation requires perseverance.

If a door has already been opened, you don’t keep knocking. If you keep knocking after the door is open, something is wrong.

There are prayers that have already been answered. The problem is not that God has not answered. The problem is that the answer has not been taken hold of.

And that is where another weapon comes in—possession, or what you can call enforcement.

When a judgment is given in court, it does not mean the result will automatically appear in your house. If a property is awarded to you, you must go and take it. If you don’t go, you will never experience what has already been granted.

This is called enforcement.

Many believers have received answers from God, but they have not enforced those answers. They have not stepped in to possess what is theirs. So even though it has been given, it is as though they never received it.

You must understand this clearly. Answered prayer is not the end. Possession is required.
