Many believers think deliverance is simply seeing somebody fall down, scream, shake, or react. That is not necessarily deliverance.
A demon can react and still remain. A demon can manifest and still remain. A demon can become disturbed and still remain.
The real work is driving it out. And that work is not always easy. Sometimes it takes time. Sometimes it takes prayer. Sometimes it takes follow-up. Sometimes it takes teaching. Sometimes it takes continued ministry.
You can touch someone under the power of God and cause a reaction. Everybody shouts. Then everybody goes home.
Meanwhile the person is still bound. Nothing substantial changed. The demon simply reacted.
There is work involved in helping people become free. There is labour involved.
This is why ministry is not about producing impressive moments. It is about helping people become free.
Many people want the exciting part. Few people want the labour. But real ministry is not measured by how many people fell.
It is measured by how many people were actually helped. Jesus did not merely expose demons. He drove them out. And those who serve Him must be willing to do the difficult work that follows the manifestation.
