One of the greatest lies believers tell themselves is that certain sins are “just weaknesses.”
No. Some of the things you are fighting are strongholds.
The Bible never pretends the enemy is weak. If he were weak, why have some people struggled with the same sin for ten or fifteen years? Why has pornography chained some believers for decades? Why has anger ruled entire families for generations?
It is strong. But because it is strong does not mean it is unconquerable.
Joshua told the tribes of Joseph: “Though they are strong, you can drive them out.” (Joshua 17:18)
Notice he did not say they were weak. He acknowledged their strength and still declared their defeat. That should change the way you fight.
Stop minimizing what is trying to destroy you. If you underestimate your enemy, you will never prepare properly for battle.
At the same time, never exaggerate your enemy beyond God’s power. The enemy is strong. Christ is stronger.
Victory belongs to those who refuse to settle for partial freedom.
Do not reach the point where you begin defending your bondage. Some people have become so accustomed to sin that they start arguing it is acceptable.
That is one of Satan’s greatest victories. The child of God does not manage sin. The child of God drives it out. Not halfway. Completely.
Every enemy left alive today becomes tomorrow’s battle again.
God did not call you to coexist with darkness. He called you to overcome it. “Though they are strong, we can drive them out.” (Joshua 17:18)
