The power to command does not lie in you. It lies in who sent you.
This is something you have to understand if you are going to serve God properly. Sometimes you look at yourself and think, “Who am I to do this?”
You look at your size, your background, your experience, your weaknesses, and you conclude that you are too small for what God is asking you to do. That is the wrong way to look at it.
Think about a soldier. When a soldier gives a command, it is not because the soldier is personally powerful. The authority behind the command comes from the one who sent him and the position he has been assigned to occupy. The soldier is simply standing in his place and carrying out the command.
That is why you cannot keep looking at yourself as “small me.” You have been given something by God. You have been sent by God. You have been given the Holy Spirit. You have been given opportunities to serve Him.
Even when God gives you something that sounds impossible, do not look down on what is possible with Him. God can do anything.
If the Holy Spirit tells you to ask for something, then ask. Even if you are struggling internally because what you are asking sounds ridiculous to you, remember that your God is trustworthy.
You have to stop seeing yourself below what God tells you that you are.
God does not want you to walk around thinking, “Poor me. Small me.” That is not humility. If He has assigned you a place, then stand in that place. If He has given you something to do, then do it.
Your power to command does not originate from your personality, your appearance, your intelligence or your natural strength. It lies with God.
Stop measuring the assignment by yourself. Look at the One who sent you, and stand where He has placed you.
