We often think of God’s work as though everything was completed, fixed, and laid out from the beginning. But Jesus said, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working” [John 5:17].
Working requires effort, processing, invention, and reinvention.
When you are actually working on something, you do not always have every detail perfectly settled before you begin. Sometimes you are doing the work and thinking as the work progresses. You make adjustments. You come up with something. You make variations.
That is how work goes.
Consider how God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him [Romans 8:28]. If everything were already fixed with nothing ever going wrong, there would be nothing to work together.
Sometimes something goes wrong, and the work involves finding how to convert what happened into something useful.
God is not sitting down doing nothing. He is working. How much more should we be found doing the works of God?
