You know what’s terrifying? The process of a heart becoming stone. It doesn’t happen suddenly; it happens when conviction comes and you push it away. When God convicts you and you say, “I’ll repent later, after school… when I’m married… when I relocate… when I’m older.” You keep postponing obedience, and each delay hardens your heart a little more.
That’s how people end up in the place Revelation describes — where even in the face of death and disaster, they no longer feel conviction. Their conscience stops working. You hear the word of God and shrug. You sin and it doesn’t move you.
That’s how stony hearts are formed — by ignoring the voice of the Holy Spirit repeatedly. The warning is clear:
“Today, if you hear His voice, harden not your heart.”
Don’t wait for the plagues, don’t wait for the judgments. When God speaks, respond while your heart is still tender.
