Knowledge is a defense. If you look at the list in 1 Peter 1:5-7—add to your faith virtue; to virtue knowledge; to knowledge self-control; to self-control perseverance; to perseverance godliness; to godliness brotherly kindness; to brotherly kindness love—you will see that every internal enemy has a counter.
Faith counters pride. Virtue counters fear and distraction. Knowledge counters ignorance. Self-control counters laziness and distraction. Perseverance counters impatience. Godliness and brotherly kindness counter selfishness. Love counters everything.
These internal battles decide whether your walls are strong or weak. External enemies—witchcraft, lies, accusation, lust—cannot break into a life that has dealt with its internal giants. When you know, when your walls are built, even if a Trojan horse is brought, you don’t drag it in foolishly. You set it on fire. You break it open before anything hides inside. Knowledge gives you discernment.
This is why the Bible focuses so much on internal enemies. But the devil has distracted people. He made everyone focus on witches and external enemies while ignoring laziness, pride, fear, impatience, selfishness, and ignorance. Then he conquers from the inside. And once he conquers inside, even God fights against you, not the devil. That is why Israel fell—internal collapse, not external power.
Your life is your promised land. If you can overcome these enemies, God’s glory will fill you. If you don’t overcome them, even the smallest external thing becomes a threat. But if your internal walls stand, external enemies can’t break through.
