Are you ashamed of spreading the truth, or proud of spreading something simply because of who said it? That is most unfortunate. The truth does not become true because a popular person said it, and it does not stop being true because a respected leader rejected it.
When people are warned that they may end up following the antichrist, many think it is exaggeration. But 2 Thessalonians 2:9–10 explains it clearly. Scripture says that because they did not have a love for the truth, they believed a lie, and God handed them over to a strong delusion. Wickedness deceives those who are perishing because they refuse to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason, God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie.
Before anyone comes to the point of believing a lie, something has already happened. They refused to love the truth, and a delusion was allowed. Truth must be loved for its own sake—not because it came from a favorite person, a leader, or a group.
There was a time when people ran after money and trends without thinking. One person spoke, another agreed, and everyone followed. No one stopped to question anything. That was why those who disagreed and said, “Being older does not mean knowing everything,” stood out.
For some, mentors have replaced truth. Once they hear, “This person is man of God,” they follow immediately and stop discerning. That is how deception spreads. That is why the enemy targets leaders—strike the shepherd, and the sheep will follow anything placed before them.
