Many people pray a lot, but their prayers do not go anywhere. Why? Because God does not hear them.
“When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you… even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening.” (Isaiah 1:15). That is God speaking.
So the issue is not how many prayers you pray. The issue is whether God is listening.
Jesus said the same thing: do not keep on babbling like pagans. They think they will be heard because of their many words.
Ecclesiastes says: do not be quick with your mouth… let your words be few (Ecclesiastes 5:2).
Three witnesses: Isaiah, Jesus, Ecclesiastes.
Yet many people have been taught the opposite—that the more words you use, the more spiritual you are.
You shout, you repeat, you stretch things unnecessarily, thinking volume and length will move God. But God is not moved by noise or quantity. He is moved by alignment.
You must know how to pray according to the will of God. “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” (1 John 5:14).
When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, he did not say, “Just say anything.” He taught them.
Prayer has rules. When you ignore those rules, you are wasting time in the name of prayer. And God is wondering, “What are you doing?” You must learn how to pray correctly. It is not optional.
