One mistake people make is thinking the struggles they face will end on their own. It will not.
As long as you are in this body, there will be resistance. Your flesh will continue to oppose what is right. The enemy will continue to look for opportunities. He did not leave Jesus. He will not leave you. That is why the Bible emphasizes perseverance.
Perseverance is not fighting once. It is not resisting occasionally. It is a consistent decision to stand your ground. Because if something is not dealt with, it does not disappear. It remains. You can grow in many areas and still be defeated in the areas you ignored.
The enemy does not stop because you have been in the faith for a long time. If anything, he keeps pressing. So what do wise people learn? They learn to push through the initial resistance.
That moment when you want to pray and everything in you says stop—that is where the battle is strongest. If you stop there, you lose. If you push through, something shifts. Strength comes. Clarity comes. Desire comes.
But many people never cross that initial barrier. They keep yielding at the beginning. And because of that, they never build consistency.
Perseverance means you decide ahead of time that you will not stop fighting. Not once. Not ten times. Not a hundred times. Until the end.
