Selfishness is a giant. People don’t know how dangerous it is. They think selfishness is just a personality thing—“That’s how I am.” No. Selfishness is a giant sitting on your land eating your destiny every day.
Selfishness is connected to pride. Pride is the head. Selfishness is one of its children. Pride says, “It’s about me.” Selfishness says, “Everything must serve me.” And the problem with selfishness is that it blinds you to what God is doing around you.
Selfishness will not allow you obey God fully. God says give. You say no. God says serve. You say you’re tired. God says sacrifice. You say, “But what about me?” And just like a Trojan horse, selfishness opens the gate of your life. And out of it come bitterness, competition, jealousy, comparison, and offense—soldiers of the same army.
