When you hear testimonies, one of the things it should stir in your heart is thankfulness to God.
The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” That is the goal.
The goal is not for people to clap for you. The goal is not for your name to spread. The goal is that your Father in heaven be glorified.
Paul explained this in 2 Corinthians 9. He was speaking to the Corinthians about generosity.
He explained that God enriches people so they can continue being generous. “You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion.” Why? “And through us, your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”
That is the point of Christian generosity —thanksgiving to God.
When you help the poor, when you assist the needy, when you support someone genuinely, God receives glory.
That is different from all this manipulation, where people are told to sow money so they can become trillionaires overnight. That is not generosity. That is greed wearing church clothes.
Some people have turned giving into spiritual gambling. “Bring this amount, and your money will double.” “Sow this seed, and your account will explode.”
Then somebody gives one testimony, and thousands of people begin chasing magic. Meanwhile, where are the others who did the same thing and lost everything? Nobody talks about them.
The problem is that many believers have not learned the nature of God properly.
God is not running heaven like a Ponzi scheme. God is not rewarding laziness and greed because someone shouted in tongues over your offering.
The Bible says if a man does not work, he should not eat. But people don’t want labour anymore.
They want magical multiplication without wisdom, diligence, patience, or skill. That mindset has destroyed many lives financially.
Christian giving is holy when it produces thanksgiving to God. Christian giving is dangerous when it becomes a tool for greed.
