One of the greatest mistakes believers make is assuming that spiritual warfare is rare. It is not.
There is warfare happening every day, often in ways we do not recognize. Many of the battles people fight are not physical before they become physical. They begin in the unseen realm.
We often imagine warfare only when someone is manifesting a demon publicly. But many battles happen quietly. They happen in the mind. They happen during sleep. They happen through oppression, confusion, fear, torment, and repeated patterns that people cannot explain.
The enemy does not usually announce himself dramatically.
Sometimes he simply keeps a person in endless cycles of discouragement, anxiety, confusion, temptation, or oppression until they begin to think that this is simply their personality.
There is an enemy, and he wages war against God’s people.
The answer is not to become afraid of demons. The answer is to become skilled with the weapons God has provided.
God has not left His Church helpless. He has given us His Spirit. He has given us His Word. He has given us prayer. He has given us the authority of Jesus Christ. He has even given His people songs that carry His presence into places where darkness has been operating.
Do not deny the existence of the battle. Recognize it.
Then take up the weapons God has provided and engage the enemy the way Scripture teaches. The believer who acknowledges the war is far better positioned than the believer who pretends there is no battle at all.
