Never separate from a brother or sister over these external arguments. Scripture is clear. You only separate over sin. First Corinthians 5 tells you exactly who to avoid: the sexually immoral, the greedy, idolaters, slanderers, drunkards, swindlers—those who claim to be brothers or sisters yet practice these things. Those are the people Scripture says not to even eat with, not those who pronounce a baptism formula differently.
Paul says we are to judge those inside the church who live like that, not those outside. God judges those outside. But believers today separate over pronunciation, doctrinal emphasis, and ritual wording, instead of sin. Philippians 3 says that mature people, when they think differently on certain points, rely on God to make it clear to them. Maturity. Not brand-new Christians. Not people who have never lived out these truths. But because of the internet, everyone feels on the same level. Everyone argues. Everyone talks strongly. It is pride.
You see children interfering in matters far above their level. A seven-year-old telling the parents how to spend money. That’s how many young Christians behave. You have not walked with God long enough to understand, yet you argue. Paul says if on some points you think differently, God will make it clear. That’s maturity. But the church fights and divides because people do not understand God, do not understand truth, and do not know history.
May you be among those who understand. May you not be swept into confusion over things that have scattered Christians for centuries. May you focus on what matters.
