#223 | The Thief of Time and Purpose

While laying my head down to rest, I started seeing a vision. I saw myself in a desert, and in front of me was a giant hourglass. There was a huge chasm between me and it. I looked at it and saw the sands pouring as a normal hourglass would.

I understood that the hourglass represented time, and the chasm symbolized our inability to touch it—we cannot slow it down or speed it up.

Looking into the hourglass, I saw a strange-looking monster inside. It would eat the sand and spit it out, but what it spat out was black smoke. I understood that the hourglass represented the time in one’s life, and I heard that what this monster was doing made people fall asleep.

I don’t know exactly what to call the monster, but it seemed like a stealer of time—anything from laziness and lethargy to distraction.

Above the desert, I saw flying boxes with wings dropping phones. The phones would grab onto people’s faces, gluing them to the screens. These people wandered around aimlessly.

Then I saw a group of people walking freely and with purpose. You could tell they were at peace by the way they moved. I noticed they carried hourglasses the size of lanterns in their hands, holding them like handbags.

These people held time in their hands. I wondered how, and then I heard that they were the ones who had learned to number their days.
Timetables kept coming to mind, and I remembered how I had felt led to create a timetable again—and I did.

I looked at another group of people who seemed to be in control. They had phones too, but their phones were on leashes, dragging along the ground like pets.
They had control over their phones. I remembered the teachings on healthy social media habits that had been shared in the hall.

I saw that these people also swung their phones like weapons to attack the enemy.

Finally, I saw a huge, evil laptop walking around and a large spider, which I felt represented the bad things on the internet.
The spider was swallowing people who got too close to it, and I heard that the solution was simply to avoid the spider.
