While we prayed, I saw us standing with scepters in a line before the throne. I had the impression that the people in this line were about to be commissioned for service.
It seemed that as we came before the Lord, He would lay His hands on us.
I had the impression that we had gone through different rudiments, and the last thing remaining was for our tongues to be worked upon and it seemed it was the reason Pastor spoke extensively about tongues during the meeting.
Then I was shown how we were before getting to this particular position. I saw those being commissioned to become shepherds in their younger years. They were given a large staff of authority to carry. The staff was much bigger than them, and they tried desperately to keep it from falling on the sheep. I had the impression that it was like a push-up exercise for them to hold the staff up.
As they matured, they became better at handling the shepherd’s rod—though not perfectly, but significantly better than before.
It seemed some shepherds’ staff fell on some sheep, causing injury or death. However, they were accountable to the Shepherd over them and took responsibility for the wounded sheep, and were working to revive the dead. After the commissioning, I saw that they had become more disciplined in the way they shepherded and in the way they spoke to the sheep.
It seemed they knew the minds of their sheep and knew exactly what to say at the right time. The Scripture in Luke 12:42 came to mind:
“Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time?”
But in this context, it wasn’t about physical food—it was about words: rebukes or encouragements, strong or soft words, given at the proper time.
After the commissioning, they knew how to speak with the sheep, and the shepherd’s rod was much easier to handle.
