You should do things because your Lord said you should do it. When your Lord says, “Wait for me,” it means wait. When He says, “Stand here and don’t go anywhere,” you stand. When He says, “Go into the city, you will see a donkey, untie it and bring it to me,” you go.
And He even tells you what to say if they ask you questions. “If they ask you, say this.” Many people read that story and think obedience is easy. It is not easy. What if they shouted, “Thief, thief!”? What if they accused you? What if they beat them? What if they killed them and burned them because their master sent them to untie a donkey?
Obeying your Lord is not easy many times. That is why very few people truly follow the Lord and are part of the true heavenly Jerusalem. Many are not because He will send you on fearful assignments. He will ask you to do things that put you at risk.
But He said, if you overcome your fear and just obey Him, one day He will dress you beautifully and marry you. That company is described as those who did not love their lives unto death. They put their Lord’s wishes above everything else, not sometimes, but to the end. They endure to the end. They put Him first till the end.
