One reason people underestimate their need for salvation is because they do not understand the ripple effect.
A small action can produce consequences far beyond what you intended.
Imagine a simple lie told for personal gain. A small false statement. A little act of selfishness.
The person who told the lie moves on with life. But the ripple continues.
Opportunities are withheld. Relationships are affected. Decisions are made based on false information. Lives move in different directions.
Years later, the consequences can become enormous. That is how sin works.
A ripple begins small and spreads outward.
The frightening thing is that most people never see the full effect of what they have done.
You may think your sin was small because you only witnessed the beginning. God sees the entire chain.
Every lie. Every act of selfishness. Every moment of hatred. Every decision that harmed another person.
This is why Scripture says that whoever hates his brother is a murderer. (1 John 3:15)
Most people read that verse and think it is an exaggeration. It is not.
God sees consequences we do not see. He sees where the ripple ended.
This is why Paul could say, “My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent.” *(1 Corinthians 4:4)*
A clear conscience is not proof of innocence. There may be consequences of our actions that we have never recognized. There may be damage we caused that we never knew about.
There may be sins whose full effects will only be revealed on the day of judgment.
This is why every person needs mercy. This is why every person needs a Savior.
And this is why nobody should delay coming to Jesus.
You know some of your sins. God knows all of them.
And the One who sees the full ripple effect is the same One who offers salvation to whoever will come.
