When God sends a person, that person’s life no longer belongs entirely to him. This is why people should not pray carelessly.
Many people say, “Lord, use me.” It sounds simple. It sounds spiritual. It sounds exciting. Until God answers. Because when God sends a person, He can send that person anywhere. He can ask for sacrifices.
Some people pray deeply without understanding what they are praying. Yet when God called Moses, Moses did not rush. After all the signs and wonders, Moses still said, “Please send someone else.” [Exodus 4:10–13]
He understood that being sent by God carries weight. Being used by God is not merely a privilege. It is also responsibility.
So when we pray, “Lord, raise helpers for Yourself,” that is a good prayer. And if you decide to go further and say, “Lord, if there is a little way I can help, here I am,” understand what you are saying.
Because God really does look for helpers. God really does look for workers. God really does look for people He can send.
And when He finds one willing heart, He can do a great deal through that person.
