One of the reasons people struggle with God’s dealings is that they have already decided how they want their lives to go.
They have their routine. Their space. Their plans. Their expectations.
Then marriage comes.
You have lived alone all your life, everything is always in its place, you eat at exactly the time you want, your slippers stay where you left them, and nobody touches your things.
Then you get married.
Suddenly somebody is carrying your slippers. Somebody is eating your food. Somebody is disturbing your routine. Somebody is occupying your space.
You cannot continue living as though you are still alone.
This is why living with people can be good training for marriage. Go and stay in a hostel. Stay where people will carry your slippers, touch your things, and disturb the order you are used to.
You need to learn how to live with people.
Some people say, “I just like my space.”
Then what happens when you say, “I do”?
Marriage will require adjustments.
The same principle applies to your walk with God. You must learn to adapt to what the Holy Spirit is saying.
You are not living in a world where everything will always happen according to your plan.
God is working. Circumstances change. People change. Situations change.
So you must learn to listen, adjust, adapt and follow the Spirit of Truth.
That is part of growing.
