There is a spirit of truth, and there is a spirit of falsehood.
John says that we can recognize the difference by what is being spoken and by what people listen to (1 John 4:6).
This means that spiritual influence eventually finds expression.
If you continually listen to falsehood, falsehood begins to influence the way you think. If you continually receive it, you can eventually begin to repeat it.
What has been influencing you begins to come out through your own words.
The same principle applies to truth.
When you read the Scriptures under the guidance of the Spirit of truth, when you listen to God’s instructions, when you respond to His dealings and allow Him to lead you, truth begins to find expression in your life.
This is why walking in truth is more than knowing Bible verses.
It involves the daily leading of the Spirit.
It involves the instructions of God from Scripture. It can involve dreams, visions, prophetic direction, and the many ways God leads His people.
You must learn to recognize what is influencing you.
And you must allow the Spirit of truth to find expression in your normal life.
