When you read the Bible, you are receiving an education from the Spirit of truth.
But you should not approach the Scriptures as though they are merely information to be collected. You need the Spirit of truth to guide you into what God is saying and doing.
Jesus said the Spirit of truth would come. John speaks about the truth living in us. The Spirit of truth is the Spirit of Christ in us, guiding us into God’s purposes.
But there is also a warning. Ephesians 4 says, “Grieve not the Holy Spirit.”
You can grieve the Spirit. And when someone is grieved, they do not remain excited and expressive around you. They become quiet. That is why the condition of your life matters.
You cannot continually resist truth and expect the Spirit of truth to have free expression through you.
You must want truth. You must love truth. You must be willing to choose truth. You must allow truth to govern your life.
If you do not like truth but claim that you like God, you are deceiving yourself.
The Spirit of truth must not only be present in you. He must find expression through you.
